Backstreet 8th & Juniper, Atlanta, Georgia

Located in a rather questionable transitional neighborhood, Backstreet is the largest dance club in Atlanta and is open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week (grandfathered in somehow). A permanent fixture for Atlanta, the club is divided into three predominant areas; a pool hall / bar that serves as the entry into the club, a third floor cabaret featuring drag shows, and a huge two-story dance hall to the rear. The dance floor is entered from above and one has to descend a full flight of stairs to arrive at it. The spectacle here is the extremely original light show that features many home made inventions. A large fly space above the dance floor provides an area for huge lighting rigs that fly in and out of the dance floor in a very theatrical way. Truly original and collectively creative, Backstreet should not be missed.
