Iffy - Biota Bondo A funky fanciful fruity and fun debut album from the garage band "Iffy". Iffy consists of Kjustinj, Tom Merkle, and Dave Pederson. Not really a dance album at all (in the traditional sense of the word), but a fun after hours diversion primed for those late nights you just want to chill out to some funky grooves. Their debut single "Can O Cope" had dance mixes (see review), and the free wheeling attitude of this album is what attracted us to it. Iffy mixes many musical styles together with simplistic ease and the result is something that not too many bands could pull off. Squelching keyboards sit next to retro funk vocals and the result is a free wheeling party atmosphere. Sometimes the songs wander off the beaten path, and other times they approach pop sensibility. If you like the Fila Brazillia inspired music, "Biota Bondo" is the perfect companion to any DJ after hours set. Iffy's Biota Bondo is out on Foodchain Records www.foodchainrecords.com and is distributed in the US by WEA. |
