The Cartwheel
427 York Rd (US 202) New
Hope, PA - 215.862.0880
Set in beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania just 45
minutes north of Philadelphia, The Cartwheel offers the only dancing experience (gay), in
that area. The Cartwheel delivers with five indoor bars, an outside bar and a large dance
floor. The music is largely house, with a DJ that knows what the crowd wants.
The floor is never deserted, which could be one of its downfall - at times you are
packed in like sardines; but that doesnt stop the clientele from having a ball!
Its one of the only clubs on this review tour, where a tremendous non-dancing crowd
stands around the floor just to watch. The light show is not bad, but could be better.
Its a bit heavy on the strobe lights that at times get down-right annoying; but
again, with the great music and fun-loving crowd, its easy to overlook. The best way
to experience this club is to go with a friend or group of friends. Since most of the
patrons are there to have fun, not to find love, going alone could afford you a night by
yourself. Monday nights at 11pm, The Cartwheel offers a tremendously popular drag show
contest of professional-quality drag. These show start between 10pm and 10:45pm. So if in
the New Hope area, NAJM recommends a day of shopping the downtown, dinner at The Raven
(see the Damron Address Book), and dancing at The Cartwheel. You wont regret the
trip! |
